BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment-Negros Island Region (DOLE-NIR) has begun distributing financial assistance under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to sugarcane workers adversely affected by Typhoon Tino. A total of P9.97 million is slated for distribution to 9,970 sugar mill and field workers, who will receive P1,000 each, DOLE-Negros Occidental Officer-in-Charge Gretchen Pasiolan said on Monday, June 1. So far, P3.75 million has been distributed across six mill districts in Negros Occidental, while P65,000 remains unclaimed from the first tranche.
