“Don’t worry … we’ve got big strong slates on our roof.” This is how one Liverpool dad tried to comfort his young son, who was worried at the prospect of an aerial attack. Marking the 85th anniversary of the end of the blitz, this moving documentary gathers reflective testimony from people who were children in London and other cities targeted by the Luftwaffe’s bombing campaign but weren’t evacuated.
