Taal Volcano logs 21 quakes, 10 tremors in past 24 hours

LUCENA CITY — Taal Volcano recorded a significant increase in volcanic earthquakes and tremor episodes over the past 24 hours, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Tuesday. In its morning bulletin, Phivolcs reported that Taal Volcano recorded 21 volcanic earthquakes and 10 volcanic tremor episodes, each lasting between one and three minutes. The figure marked a sharp increase compared to seismic activity recorded from May 20 to 25, when the volcano logged only three volcanic earthquakes daily, except on May 24, when no seismic event was recorded.
