MANILA, Philippines — After some reported attempts, the move to oust Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III finally succeeded on Monday as Senate Minority Leader Alan Cayetano was put to replace him. Since taking the Senate presidency from his predecessor, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, in September, Sotto’s leadership had been hounded by ‘coup’ rumors following an investigation by the blue ribbon committee into alleged corruption linked to the government’s flood control projects.
