PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – Authorities have sounded the alarm over toxic red tide contamination in Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur, after laboratory tests confirmed unsafe levels of Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP). The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), in its Shellfish Bulletin No. 13, Series of 2026, issued on June 1, warned that PSP concentrations in Dumanquillas Bay have exceeded regulatory limits, posing serious health risks to consumers.
