Path of Exile 2's Return of the Ancients adds several new player friendly upgrades and two new Ascendancy classes

Path of Exile 2 is getting a major endgame overhaul and several QoL upgrades with Patch 0.5, Return of the Ancients, launching on May 29. Developer Grinding Gear Games revealed the update will rework core endgame progression systems, including the Atlas. The patch introduces new corrupted zones, redesigned progression paths, new pinnacle encounters, and changes to several league mechanics already present in the game. One of the biggest additions is the introduction of Ancient Strongholds, large endgame areas tied to the new progression structure.
