MANILA, Philippines — The three cases of kidnapping with homicide and serious illegal detention against fugitive businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang in connection with missing sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts) will now be handled by Quezon City courts. Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson Polo Martinez confirmed this on Thursday, citing a Supreme Court en banc resolution on Feb. 5. “The transfer was granted upon motion of the panel of prosecutors, in view of security considerations and the sensitive nature of the cases,” Martinez said.
