ILOILO CITY — Several areas in the Visayas remained under “danger” and “extreme caution” heat index levels on Saturday, as the state weather bureau warned that oppressive heat may persist through the weekend and into Monday. Based on the five-day computed heat index and two-day forecast released by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) at 5 p.m. on Saturday, parts of Eastern Visayas recorded some of the highest heat index values in the country, with Borongan, Eastern Samar hitting 45°C on Friday under the “danger” category.
