DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Davao Region denied claims that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the suspension of garbage collection operations in Davao City, saying the directive came from the regional office following a landfill accident. In a statement, DENR Region XI said reports linking Marcos to the suspension order were “false and misleading.” The agency said it issued a suspension order for the Davao City Sanitary Landfill on May 21, a day after a trash slide incident at the facility.
