Cop survives ambush; suspect wounded in shootout in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY — A police officer survived an alleged ambush following a shootout with a suspect early Monday morning in Barangay Busay, Barugo, Leyte, authorities said. The victim was identified as Police Corporal “Rex,” 36, an active member of the Philippine National Police and a resident of Barugo, Leyte. He was unharmed during the incident. The suspect, identified only as “Reo,” 40, unemployed and living with a common-law wife in Barugo, sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
