LEGAZPI CITY — A volunteer-led river rehabilitation program in Libon town, Albay, is drawing growing public support as it seeks to restore waterways, promote environmental responsibility, and reduce risks of flooding. The initiative, dubbed “Libon Forward, Sulong Ta, Linigon Ta Project,” was launched by environmental advocate John Liao following the success of a similar river cleanup drive in the neighboring town of Polangui. Liao said the weekly cleanup activities focus on removing silt and garbage from rivers, creeks, canals, and catch basins to prevent clogging that often worsens flooding during the rainy season.
